NICE TO MEET YOU, I'M NAT!

Hi, I’m Nat! I am a hair stylist & owner of The Velvet Palm Hair Studio! 

I love love love blonding. (A full foil hates to see me coming). When you’re in my chair, prepare for girly-pop 2000’s playlists plus the longest (and worst) stand-up comedy show you’ve ever experienced. (Typically fueled by a medium Iced latte with almond milk) :P

I fell in love with hair at the age of 16 while dyeing my own hair bold colors in my bathroom. (sorry about the bathtub and counter stains, mom).  After accidentally turning my hair pastel green (let’s pretend it was on purpose) then using ketchup to neutralize it (google told me to) (it worked though), I took my first steps into the world of color theory. (woah foreshadowing)

My beauty school experience was a little bit different, I actually enrolled thinking I wanted to become a makeup artist, only to discover I was a LOT better at doing hair. Throughout my experience, I wanted to be a vivids hair stylist given my past with bright palettes. I stuck to blonde’s but every once in a blue moon I’ll convince a client to do a fun color.

America's Next Top Model makeover episodes were always my favorite (you know the ones). As controversial as they were, it showed me that hair can make or break your confidence. Thankfully that was a lesson I was able to learn secondhand. (I never convinced anyone to go bald though, YOU’RE WELCOME)

I've always loved creating, once I learned how to stop tangling the thread on my sewing machine, my obsession started. my love language is a crossover between gift giving and acts of service. (I love to make things for people I love) 

But ultimately what I love most about doing hair is making people feel  beautiful, making them feel comfortable. That's really the heart behind The Velvet Palm. I wanted to create a space that felt like an extension of my creativity and personality. a little bold, a little unconventional, but always welcoming. (A slumber party where everyone was invited) More than anything, I wanted a salon where individuality is celebrated and everyone feels comfortable being themselves.

Whether you’re coming in for the big change or just refreshing what you already have, my ultimate  goal is for you to walk out feeling confident and beautiful ~inside and out~
